all the bells and whistles in me! That shot shows Federal Hotel and Coffee Shop on Anderson Road, directly across the street from Ruby Cinema. Behind Federal and the newer building is Cathay Cinema, where I was attached for some years. Adjacent to Federal Hotel was General Pharmacy, and a couple of shops away was the legendary Aunty Lai Leng Boutique and Aunty Susu Hair Salon that was so often mentioned with much affection by fellow Ipohtalk kakis. Your site has indeed provided former Ipoh residents with an invaluable service. My mom who is in her eighties, is too old for the long flight to Malaysia. For her, the next best thing is to revisit those familiar sights by viewing the wonderful photos on Ipohtalk.com. My brother, who has resided in New Zealand for more than forty years will be visiting us for Thanksgiving. I will give him a pleasant surprise by introducing him to your site. He will be thrilled because he has not been back to Ipoh in twenty years! A big "THANK YOU" to you for re-connecting us to an important phase of our life in the old country.
