is a name I instantly remember, unlike Wisma Central in KL. :)

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I think the local folks there used to refer to Kampung Paloh as "Tit Shuin Low".

As a young child, I used to spend many weekends visiting my maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins who lived there until some developer moved in in the early 70s. I remember the creek that ran through the kampung, the small makeshift wooden bridge over it and the coconut trees in front of almost every house. And I can still picture my uncle catching eels from the creek running along the side of the house - with his bare hands! Yikes!

The poorer parts of the kampung did not have running water but rather depended on deep wells for everyday use. A mental image of the crude but effective water filtering system my aunts/uncles used to have just came to me.

Ahh, here I go again getting carried away with those long forgotten memories. Thanks for triggering them, Jim!

My, this trip back is really going to be something. :)

Cheers,
Phoebe
