This pic is absolutely superb Kayes. The butterflies are arranged such that they look like part of the water-lily! The timing is so important isn't it Kayes? You don't 'arrange' for such shots. You were at the right at the right time. However, you still need a sharp eye and from your pics you obviously have it. Cheers,

Hi Blue Grass,

Can't agree more with your comment about this pic. It's not still life photography but they are butterflies. Butterflies as the name suggests they can fly and they are highly sensitive. The photographer must be very quick, sharp and expertly to capture this awesome shot. Kayes should know by now I am his ardent 'open admirer' where his photography is concerned. Smile

Hello Kayes,

Is the water-lily on 18th March pic. and the water-lily on 21st. March the same flower? Blue Grass mentioned that the butterflies look like part of the water-lily. It's true, afte all flowers and butterflies belong to each other. Very tempted to reproduce this enchanting shot - just kidding! I can't afford it!! Smile

hello Orange, it is a different flower but from the same pond. I posted this pic to a US based photo forum and here is what one reviewer said:-

Hi Kayes. It looks as though you not only have fans in Malaysia but worldwide! Congratulations.

You told us in the pic 'Sunrise' that you shot it handheld as you did not have the time to set up your tripod. I did think then you have remarkably steady hands. What about this pic? Handheld too?

Blue Grass, this pic was also handheld. I had my monopod with me but using a monopod (or tripod) to shoot downwards is always a problem in such situations when you have to be quick. I give credit to Nikon's new VR (Vibration Reduction) system which is available on most of their new lenses. The VR almost solves the problem of camera shake.
