ACS was the first school in the country to have a swimming pool. Thanks to the efforts of Mr Teerath Ram, the then Principal. The first caretaker of the pool and canteen there was "Ah Tak". The pool produced some pretty good swimmers. One of them was Colin Clark.

I can't recollect when the swimming pool was completed but I do recall that a group of my classmates were the first to swim in it. We were given the special priviledge because we did a cleanup of the pool area - volunteer labour. I am sure some ACS old boys in the late 1950s would remeber it. If any of you do, please confirm my recollection. ACS Old Salt

I think it was completed either in 1961 or 62. I was a boarder from 61 to 62 & some of us who couldn't afford to return to our hometown during schooldays had to catch frogs from the flooded building site for our meals.

Yes & No. Yes lots of friends & up to lots mischiefs including ragging-done to juniors. In those days we used to carry the sleeping beauties in thier beds to the graveyard but invariably will wake up before we got anywhere near except I remember a case where we managed to get there but the poor lad nearly had a fit. No because always short of cash. Unfortunately haven't kept in touch with anyone as have been living abroad since left Ipoh end of 61. Past 12 years have been back to Malaysia yearly but somwhow never made it to Ipoh-vow one day will do so. Anyway I was known as Kuantan when I was in ACS-no prize for guessing where I came from.

Hopefully all of the best options and facilities are provided in this school that are often provided less in other or common schools.

Set up a swimming pool in every street block, and it will solve many social problems.
