I understand this new hotel opened for business some 4 months ago and the hotel is completely surrounded by used cars. When I first heard about it, I thought it is a pretty good idea to step out of the hotel and have a view of hundreds of used cars of all makes, from cheap to expensive ones ..... including perhaps some stolen rides. Located just off Jalan Datoh and close to Jalan Leong Boon Swee which for a long time have housed many used car dealerships. Out of sheer curiosity I took Ethan and stayed there for a couple of nights to have a feel of sleeping with wheels. Just in case anyone thinks this is some kind of budget hotel, the published rates range from RM250 to RM500 per night and I was actually wondering what the M Boutique Hotel has to offer, considering the fact I pay only RM485 at the Mandarin Oriental in KLCC.

One of the first things we noticed were the iMacs at Reception and also at the Living Room on the first floor which are for use by guests and that means Ethan can have a computer for his own use Smile

Ethan waits for his laundry to be done. No hotel charges for use of the laundry machines. Free detergents too!

World Class Motor .....

During the early 90's, we traded in our car for a new car in KL and were very surprised to see that particular was being displayed at one of used-car showrooms along Jalan Kampar. There are quite a number of used-car showrooms in Ipoh but I believe many of their cars are sourced from outstation. Based on their reg. nos, mostly are from Klang Valley.

Thanks Kayes for those interesting pics. and the latest update for our hometown.

To me, a boutique sells clothes, shoes or jewelleries which has only one or two with the same design or colours. It's the place to shop if you don't want to feel awkward to be seen with the same design or colour of clothes with another person when attending any function. Same with this M Boutique hotel which has iMacs and free self-servicmed laundry. This must be the only hotel in Ipoh which offers these attractive services to room guests to keep up its name as boutique hotel. Of course, the room-rate has to be raised to be at par with its class and standard. If the price is just so-so, I am sure nobody will notice this unique hotel.

Ethan is seen sitting comfortably on the sofa and enjoy playing his gadget. A lucky modern kid! Back to those days when we kids had to tag along with parents or relatives to noisy and non air-conditioned coffee shops. We sat aimlessly while waiting for our elders to finish eating or chi-chatting.

Now and then .....

Thanks so much for the post. Yes, Orange is right. We actually use a play on the word Boutique, and we like to be known as M Boutique (minus the Hotel). It's a cheeky play, and hope to educate future Hotels on a sampling of what a Boutique Hotel should be like, but we also understand that we do have our short comings as well. Smile

M Boutique Hotel should not be confused with Hotel Ipoh Boutique.

interesting to see M-Boutique featured in IpohTalk. Stayed here during the weekend of Malaysia Day to attend the wedding festivities of my wife's grand-nephew. It's a unique hotel where recycled wooden planks replete w/its faded paint were used for some of the room furniture. a cosy place
