Message from Thelma Tynemouth (tynmth@yahoo.co.uk)

"2 Years spent in the Camerons whilst my Husband was teaching at Slim School. My middle son Neil was born there and was christened at the local church. The 2 years we spent there were the best years of our lives, the people we met, Mok Lim, Ah Fong, Theresea, Ping Ping, Mr..She, Miss Griffith Jones, and many many more were lovely people, I would love to hear from someone".

This was where I was sitting, minding my own business, when I saw those tea bushes being pruned!

What a serene setting..........what else can anyone do, blue grass but "mind one's own business" in such a setting. What time of year were you there ? Kayes is guessing from the time his pics were taken that April is the time we will get to see the mauve in the tea shrubs. Will definitely be there next april and keeping my fingers crossed to see the mauve...........like waiting to see the Aurora Borealis, another phonomenon I need to add to my "something I would love to see before I die" list Smile

I checked my calender and we were up in Camerons first week April! I was having tea here either on 7th or 8th April. The noise made by the cutting machines drew our attention and I had a look through my bino. Kayes was up there barely 10 days later. A plausible explanation is that new tea shoots are mauve! Eureka, I think we've got it Liz and Kayes. This has to be the answer to our mystery.

By George! I think you've got it blue grass! That's the most possible explanation ! So we will still need to know exactly when they prune the tea shrubs then and go about ten days later when the new shoots are sprouting Wink

Hello Liz and Joe. Do you remember our date up Camerons? Almost like a clarion call, 'Next April in Camerons'. I do hope one of us make it up there to settle our mystery of the 'purple tea shrubs'.

We'll see Kayes, we'll see. I have the advantage of being the closest! And I drive at a mean pace!

Blue Grass, you are on. The last one up pays for all the roast lamb and beer. For your info, my bags are packed and my Smart smells blood .....

'All my bags are packed, I'm ready to go' as the song goes.
I took a drive along the Sg. Buloh road and found lots of roadside nurseries selling plants and flowers. It made me think I was in Cameron Highlands except the weather was rather hot. Interesting place. The only thing is I forgot to bring my camera.

Joe, is that a John Denver or Glen Campbell song?

Hi Kayes, its a John Denver song 'Leaving on a Jet Plane'. The only difference is we'll be doing the twists and turns round the corners while driving up to Cameron Highlands.

Thanks Joe, I used to listen a lot to both of them in the 60s. I like My Way as sung by Glen Campbell.

Kayes and Joe,
If I am not mistaken, it was Peter, Paul and Mary that first sang this song and made it famous. I know it so well because my drinking buddies always requested this song for me prior to my departure from Ipoh. Have fun in Camerons!

To make it looks more Camerons; I hope someone will open a cafe to sell Scones and Fried Ice-Cream. Instead of going up to Camerons, I can have scones for Mon.; Wed.; and Fri. As for the Fried Ice-cream, it will be on every Tue.; Thurs.; and Sat.;. For Sundays, I can have both. I PROMISE!!!

Count me in for the "Next April in Camerons" but I normally do not travel during the month of April esp. 10 days or so before and after 5th. April.

Since the Smart smells blood and it must be the one who will provide the lamb. And now we have the results; the WINNER is - - - - -.

Now everyone can start to sing the "Up Up and Away" by Fifth Dimension.
