A message from Michael Blakeway:-

"Hello there Kayes, I stumbled across your board regarding Ipoh and Penang and was absolutely fascinated by the photos of old and modern Ipoh. I am an English guy who came to work in Tasek Ipoh in 1981, lived in Thomson road, joined the Ipoh Club and Ipoh Hash and never quite got over it. In 1983 I moved to Singapore and then in 1985 I went up to live in Tjg Bungah Penang. I married a Chinese Malaysian and spent most of my time in Penang/Butterworth until 2006 when I retired and came back to UK. I still have this most amazing draw to Ipoh, the FMS bar, Ipoh club, house of mirrors, curry mee, char koay teow etc etc. The hills of Papan, Jelapang, Tambun are forever in my mind. It's got to be the most beautiful place in the world!!

regds Mike"

Loosely translated, "ta nga kau" means to have a chin-wag or to shoot the breeze. Smile
