Hi Kayes and Joe, you are both right about the traffic jams in Cameron Highlands. The drive from Simpang Pulai is most pleasant with beautiful views but once you reach Kampung Raja, the descend to Tanah Rata can be a nightmare because of indiscriminate parking by tourists, along the road, when they stop to buy vegetables and flowers. So it is not a good idea to go up on public holidays and school breaks. With the new road it is possible to go for a day trip, coming down after tea.

Hi Blue grass,
When you're in Camerons, you'd expect to get garden fresh vegetables served in your meals cheap but unfortunately, that is not so. The shops in Brinchang serving Tai Chow dishes serve vegetables in very small portions. Its better to have your meals at places where they have a menu and the price is printed on the menu.

Hi Joe
What you said is so true. I have not been up to Cameron Highlands for some time as the traffic jams there have put me off. However I'm still curious about the pic that Kayes took of the purple tea bushes! Do remember to make a trip to Boh Tea estate if you go up next. We have to solve that mystery Joe!

Hi Blue grass,
Yes, I remember that we need to solve that mystery hehe. Will try to make time to go up there soon. BTW I get fresh Camerons strawberries here at RM 10/- for three packets and my wife whips up wonderful strawberry jam. Talking about it, maybe I'll have some tonight with yoghurt after dinner Smile

In the 50s and 60s, I used to go up Camerons with my parents and in the 70s I took my own children there often. During those times, nothing would have led me to think about the Camerons having traffic jams! Or not having to pack your cashmere pullover.

Hi Kayes and Blue grass,
Its strange that whenever I'm up in Camerons esp. at the vegetable marketplace, I have the yearning for those fried sweet potato balls. Maybe its because of the cool weather up there but when I'm back on the lowlands, I don't eat that stuff. Anyway, I think most people tend to overbuy the vege, fruits and flowers. I just love to sit around and have a cuppa.

A surprise for me as there was no Starbucks the last time I was up Camerons.
