During 2001 when we were there a snapped timing belt cause a change in our plan of visiting penang into visit CH
We stayed at Bala's Chalets for 2 days and i night
The place was convenient with large rooms and beds
Only milk whitener was not sufficient to get coffee to our colour and taste and we had to request extra sachets
Food was also good

Was there a porter service to help you carry your bags up those steep steps to your room? A tourist from UK complained at Penang Talk that he had to carry his two big bags up those steps in the middle of the night! I have never stayed there but I like the layout of the place. I go there for tea and scones occasionally because the 3G reception is good in that locality.

Since we were on a 3 days trip and carried only few items and taxi we went carried out went straight to hotel thee was no need for a porter
