One of the well-known shops on the right was Charles Grenier. Sadly it hs closed.
On the left was Whiteways, once a popular high-end shopping place in Ipoh. Further down the road was another place called Lim Emporium selling perfumes. These have all closed.

Thanks for mentioning those three places. Been to all three of course. Charles Grenier was the top printer in Ipoh, just like Ganesh Printers used to be in Penang. And I vaguely remember Lim Emporium. There used to be a shop (not at Station Road but somewhere near Kong Heng) which had a good selection of men's wear like Arrow, Whitmont, Jockey etc. Just can't remember the name Sad

The building on the right has been empty for years and I was fearful that it would be torn down. So I was really pleased to see it in the process of being restored when I passed by it recently. Will share pics soon.

I have seen many books printed by Charles Grenier. Their KL's branch was at Jalan Templer, PJ. I was told Charles Grenier's HQ is in Ipoh. Wonder who owned this printer?
