Susan, the beautiful Taiping Lake Garden inspires a photographer. I passed through Taiping last Saturday and took more pics. You can view them at Taiping Talk Smile

I have not visited Taiping Lake for almost 30 years. Coming from a land-locked city like Ipoh, any big body of water fascinates me when I was young.

Well Ken, now you've got the whole of Lake Michigan at your doorstep. Taiping is a real nice place to stay and if you're into char koay teow, some folks say it tastes better than in Penang. I like it too.

Joe, I remember Taiping's food quite well. The variety and choices are almost similar to Penang's and of course, it is a whole lot cheaper. I think the Char Koay Teow and Popiah near the market (or Bus Station?) is delicious. I even ate at a coffee house called Comfy Corner and the quality of the western-style food was not bad too. Yes, Lake Michigan is what makes Chicago one of America's greatest city. The 5 Great Lakes contain about 20% of the world's fresh water and in actual fact, it is more like an inland sea. In summer I like to drive along Lake Shore with my moonroof opened or walk on the beach with the waves lapping at my feet.

Would you like to know who created the beautiful Taiping War Cemetery, now known as the Commonwealth War Cemetery? Check it out at:-
