Koleksi Perkahwinan was formerly Mun Thin Coffee Shop and beside it was a shop that sold imported chocolates. candies and cookies. This shop was also owned by Mun Thin. In addition to good food, I also have fond memories of the ice cream sundaes and floats that were very popular with the younger crowd at that time. Of course, that was before Ipoh became proliferated with snack bars and ice cream parlors

Ken, I can remember well that shop which sold chocolates, candies, cookies, jam etc. I wonder which shop closed first ..... Mun Thin Coffee Shop or the chocolate, candies shop? Or did they close together since it was the same owner? I used to go often to the liquor shop ("Sydney") directly opposite Mun Thin. It was owned by one of my good friend's uncle.

I liked the shop because there were many imported things sold there. Besides the chocolates and candies, I used to buy the cocktail cigarettes like Black Russian, Sobranie and many others. The Mun Thin guy who sold char siew and Kum Cheen Yoke has moved out to somewhere opposite the old Majestic theatre. I heard that he passed on and the wife runs the place now. If you're sending your car for repairs in Kg. Kuchai, then it'll be good to drop by at the shop for a good lunch. Their Kai Lup Fun is still good.

Hi Joe, thanks for the reminder. I have forgotten that I also bought those cocktail cigs from there. Those slim Black Russians were cool to be seen with. Where exactly is Kg Kuchai? Is it in front of that bus company owned by Michelle Yeoh's father and run by Lam Jit, the brother?

Hi Kayes,
Yes, it is in front of the bus company Sri Maju owned by Michelle' father. The area stretches all the way to to the end of Hume Street beside the river. Another entrance to Kg. Kuchai is at the Post office, thats where the shop is.
