This recent trip back to Ipoh brought more tears ..... It's not the same anymore. Remember she used to wait for us when she knew we were going back to Ipoh, even if it was way past midnight. She made sure the pillow cases and bed sheets were clean (starched and ironed). She prepared our favourite drinks, even at odd hours. Every time just before we were about to go back to KL, she used to ask the same question: "When are you coming back again?"

No more bringing her out for lunch and doing errands for her. We were always late to reach Ipoh when she was still around because we used to look for her favourite food and things she needed before going back to Ipoh and this took quite a while. But this recent trip we reached Ipoh early, very early but WHAT FOR? .....

It's exactly three years now.

Hi Orange, your rather sad and wistful musings brought to mind this poem -

There seemed to be something huge and important to say;
But somehow, then, we could never think of the words.
Anyway, they would keep, so they did not matter,
And there would be time and time enough to remember;
So we laughed as the years flew over our heads like birds.
And then, one day, we remembered them, ran all the way,
Breathless came running and beat and called at your door -
At the door of a house whose silence and emptiness mocked us;
For you had slipped out at the back way, quite quietly, leaving
'I love you, and thank you,' unneeded, unsaid, ever more.

Nostalgic bitter sweet memories for us to keep
Of happy bygone days but now they make us weep
Silently we search the attics of our mind
And try to leave the sadness all behind
Try to remember the laughter and not the tears
And the soothing breath of love will seem so near

Hi Orange, your friends from near and far hope you will cheer up and feel better. Here are a few words of encouragement from me.

"All the joy and sorrow of life we have to face
With a silent prayer to the Almighty for his grace
Through time, the wounds will eventually heal
Once again, we will be strong to walk on even keel."

Jalan Pasir Putih is special to me. My father had a work place here (near Mun Cheong) and he worked till the day he died aged 86. He advised me never to let my brain go idle because that will lead to a senile situation which is worse than death. When he was alive, I would drive my children from Penang and he would walk over to Mun Cheong to join us for lunch. Now that he has passed away, I miss him and each time I travel along this road, I gaze at the shoplot where his work place was. Sometimes I just stop in front and the good times we had come flooding back. Such places provide food for the soul. Each time I am in Ipoh, my heart takes me back to this place and the houses where we lived.

Thanks Ken for your poem. It's so sweet and thoughtful of you!

I will surely visit Ipoh regularly esp. during Chinese New Year, BG. Smile

Kayes, didn't know your dad's office was at Jalan Pasir Putih. We have many relatives still staying around this area. In fact, our ancestral home is still there and we have to return frequently.

At the very end of Jalan Pasir Putih is our latest shopping mall, Station 18. It is a huge complex with Aeon as the anchor tenant. Perhaps I shouldn't say the 'latest' if we take into consideration Mydin which opened recently in Meru.

IMHO, shopping at Mydin is to shop for essentials or basics but shopping at AEON is to shop for "extras" or luxury goods. No??? ..... "Shopping at AEON is to shop for essentials, shopping at Starhill Gallery then only we can say it is luxury shopping!!" Hmmmm

Mydin Mall in Meru is HUGE!! The one at USJ looks small if it is compared with this Mydin Mall. I presume it takes hours to tour the entire Mall! iPoh is up and coming!! Thumbs Up!

The hotel which is located at the Bandar Meru Raya Express Bus Terminal and right opposite to Mydin Mall is worth checking it out as the room rate and room set-up are equally interesting and unique! Room with mattress on the floor without bathroom-attached is RM45.00. Room with mattress and bed without bathroom-attached is RM60.00. Room with bed & mattress and bathroom-attached is RM90.00. Space constraint or WHAT?! ..... Fun? Weird? Strange?

Perhaps this is the express way to promote their hotel!
