Kayes, was this captured at night? Curious to know how did you manage to use the flash and at the same time the beautiful butterfly seemed not disturbed. Intelligent shot with good control!!

Susan, I took this pic at about 10 this morning and I did not use the flash. The "bokeh" has turned out to be black because of the uniqueness of the Nikon 70-300mm lens. This lens is one of my favourites and many of the pics I like are shot using this lens which often surprises me by delivering sweet results. By the way, the photography term "bokeh" means the background of the photo. I am also a bit surprised by the bokeh turning almost black even though I expected it to be "dark". The real background was dark and I used a fast speed (i/800) for this shot. I suppose all these factors resulted into turning the background black. Is photography a hobby of yours?

I love to view beautiful pictures.


Very often, our office engage photographers to take pictures for publications. They charge by the hour. Sometimes, if the location is outstation; the hotel and milleage claims can be quite high but their end products are hardly 10% of yours. Sigh......
