Zooming in on their old logo, that familiar lion. That's why the Cantonese always called F & N drinks, "see chee muck".

Cantonese call aerated water as "Hoolan Sui". Do not know why. The Hong Kongites refer those medals and rewards they received from the Queen (before 1997) as Hoolan Sui Koi - the caps of the aerated bottle.

In Malaysia, our elders always make things easy. Sanitary pads is Kotex; camera film is Kodak; if you want to photostat: "Xerox it."; nail polish is Cutex; nail polish remover is Cutex remover. The elders are still using these terms, at least it is in my family. If only life is that simple - no need to waste time to make choices. As the Chinese say: Fah Doh Gan Luen.

Well here is another variant, we can call it Ho-Lan-Chui (in Hokkien). Kayes thanks for the good shots.

hello gentee86, you can see this building on the way to Silibin. I think Conolly Road is off Silibin Road but I am not sure ..... can someone confirm?

You're right Kayes. That building is in Conolly Road and is off Silibin Road. You will also see some old railway quarters along that road.

Wonder anyone knows why 'Sub Sum Kan' (13 shops or 13 houses) is so called? I only know the shops are around F&N factory.

I used to teach at Sekolah Kebangsaan Jalan Connolly in the early 70's. Is the school still there?

I remember during Chinese New Year, my parents would buy a few cases of F&N. Usually a mixture of Orange (my favourite), Sarsi, and Cream Soda. I definitely have fond memories of those days!

hi bonyronny, are you still in the land of Mercedes, Porsches and Audis? F & N is still very much in existence. They have moved from Conolly Road to a new factory in Lahat. The drinks they make now are essentially the same as what were made when they started ..... like what ACS77 mentioned ..... orange, sarsi, ice cream soda etc ..... only the packaging is different now. I used to have a friend who worked there in sales in the 60s and 70s and he could get lots of those drinks at discounted prices. F & N also used to market Anchor Beer.
